Industrialists set to go on air
Chennai: It's not what you will normally hear on radio. Ahead of the Global Investors Meet, the Tamil Nadu government has roped in prominent city-based industrialists to promote the event. So between Kollywood hits, you will also be tuned into updates on GIM and sound bytes on the state's investment environment.
Venu Srinivasan of TVS group and MRF's managing director Arun Mammen have been requested to lend their voice and share their successful business trail through radio, Youtube, social media website and newsletters promoted by industries department.
Also, CEOs and MDs of several Fortune 50 companies like Dell, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, Daimler, Amyway and Congnizant have lent their voice and written articles promoting GIM.
With a lot riding on the event, organisers are pulling all stops in the branding and promotion of the event. In the last 48 hours, teams have worked round- the-clock to ensure visibility and generate a buzz around the event.
More than two dozen videos and about 50 newsletters written by IAS officers are shared and will be circulated among delegates and guests attending GIM. Delegate and guest registration was also closed on Friday, the official said.
In fact, some firms have already indicated their business interest in the state. MRF has revealed its plans of investing up to Rs 4,500 crore over the next few years, said the official.
On the event management front, 21 global and domestic partners have been roped in as business partners and the local contractors hired for stage management, parking and house cleaning have engaged hundreds of part-timers to make the event a success.
Invitation for media barons and editors
Besides inviting industry captains and foreign diplomats for the GIM on Wednesday, the state Industries department has also issued a red carpet invitation for media barons and top journalists from different parts of the country. "At least half a dozen chief editors and proprietors of news channels from Delhi have confirmed their participation. Without media participation, this event will not be a success", said an officer who is part of the reception committee. Special teams led by lAS officers had been formed to support the reception committee and industry associations have been asked to ensure that global cuisine particularly continental, Chinese, Japanese and French, is available and served to investors and their delegations at the posh hotels.
