BENGALURU: “I met with an accident near Bellandur Lake, which is filled with foam again,” said a fitness instructor, who was riding a two-wheeler when he met with accident. Foam in Bellandur and Varthur lakes is flowing on to the roads, causing many accidents, he said.
“It is not just the health of residents living near these lakes that is being affected, even the lives of motorists going past these lakes are at risk,” said Elangovan Kulandaivelu, head of the Varthur Lake Group and a member of the Bellandur Lake Group.
“I often drive close to Yemlur Lake and many a time, I have to use the wiper to clear the foam from my car’s windshield," said Rejesh Nair, a commuter. “Water-borne diseases are being reported at these areas but not much is being done about it,” said Elangovan.
