Professors asked to write Telangana books for civil exams
Osmania and Kakatiya are writing two or three books at a time
Hyderabad: Professors in state universities like Osmania and Kakatiya are being contracted to write reference books for civil service aspirants.
The syllabus for the Group 1 and Group 2 state civil service exams, to be conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), has been vastly changed and specific knowledge of Telangana is essential. However, there is a dearth of resource material.
Aspirants are thus turning to history and economics books published by the Telugu Akademi. Authorities said much material is already available in terms of the course material for Intermediate and graduate studies, but there are missing links.
A separate paper, exclusively on Telangana, has been included in the syllabus this year with several sections. For instance, there is a section on specific economy of Telangana in erstwhile AP but there is hardly any cohesive resource material. Ditto for other sections, like industry in Telangana.
With this, the Telugu Akademi is contracting noted faculties in universities in the state to write reference books in areas of economy, politics and culture. Some professors in varsities like Osmania and Kakatiya are writing two or three books at a time.
Director of Telugu Akademi, Mr A. Satyanarayana Reddy, said, “Basically we are asking noted professors to compile already existing works so that everything is available in one book. But there are missing links and in view of the syllabus, we have asked professors to fill in those links or write new parts if there is something missing. Sale of existing books is already peaking.” The TSPSC has also suggested some reference books including one written by chairman, Prof. Ghanta Chakrapani and TSPSC member Mr C. Vittal.
