Movie review ‘Luv U Alia’: All that glitters leaves ‘U’ cold
Director: Indrajit Lankesh
Cast: V.Ravichandran, Bhoomika Chawla, Kiccha Sudeep, Chandan, Sangeetha Chauhan, Sudharani, Ravishankar, Sadhu Kokila
Rating: 2
The star director certainly lives up to his reputation with the ‘star’ cast of Luv U Alia which again confirms his love for glitz and glamour. If any one who deserves appreciation for promoting the dream of complete swachh bharat on big screen, it would be undoubtedly Indrajit Lankesh. Regardless of the outcome, every frame the director has captured through his cinematographer looks like a beautiful painting worth preserving it with a frame.
After finishing with the attractive packaging of Luv U Alia, the huge expectations from the director who is responsible for the silver screen debut of current heart throb of Bollywood Deepika Padukone starts draining soon after it opens up with the interview of Kiccha Sudeep who plays himself in the movie. After Chandan’s first two failures, his dismal performance continues with even his expressions giving an impression of overdone bodybuilding workouts!
A simple good old formula of reuniting two broken hearts is the peg of the story, to which the star director spins it around a divorced couple played by Crazy Star Ravichandran as a popular gynecologist and Bhoomika Chawla as a dancer. Link to the plot is the only daughter to the divorced couple played by Sangeeta Chauhan.
By cutting the crap introduction of Kiran (Chandan), he soon falls in love at first sight with Alia (Sangeeta) who has lost faith in the institution of marriage. Determined to marry his love, Kiran finds out the actual reason behind Alia’s disbelief in marriage. What follows next is an agonizing phase with unsavory comedy in between. Though the director’s good intention looks good talking about the sensitive issue such as divorce and its repercussion on the child but unfortunately it does not feel good after more than hours of experience. Off course, it ends with a marriage. Watch it for the good intention, the crazy star, and a must for Sudeep fans!
