She was last seen in I and now, Amy Jackson stars opposite Akshay Kumar in Singh is Bling. The film is a big break for the actress who has primarily worked down South but she says the language doesn’t matter as much.
“For me the language doesn’t matter. Being an actor it is my job to do justice to any film I do. Of course doing Singh is Bling was a dream come true. I got the call that I’m being cast opposite Akshay and I had to pinch myself to believe it. Right till the end of filming I used to ask myself, ‘Am I really doing a film with Akshay Kumar?’ I’ve been a massive fan. The first Bollywood film I watched was Katrina Kaif and his film Namastey London. I didn’t think I would get the chance to star alongside him, so early in my career. He’s been the best co-star I’ve had.”
Clearly in awe of her co-star Amy tells us that there’s so much to learn from the fitness freak actor, “You can’t define Akshay. He’s the action king of bollywood. The way he is as a person, not just as an actor, I’ve learnt a lot. For instance, the other morning we were up at the crack of dawn, to kick start the Singh is Bling promotions. I think it’s important for actresses to do action too.
“Akshay was very inspiring. He even got Ratiji to lose a lot of weight. Now she’s so fit by the end of the movie she was looking like his sister rather than mom.”
Telling us about her role in the film an excited Amy reveals, “It’s very interesting because in the film Akshay’s character can’t speak English and I don’t understand Hindi, so it’s love with a communication gap.”
