Second Pulse, first to help
Manoj Gudala and Abhishek Sandragiri’s device can send alerts in case of an accident
The recently concluded India Gadget Expo had big brands showcasing their products. But there was also a stall that was run by two students.
Manoj Gudala and Abhishek Sandragiri stall showcased their product Second Pulse, a device that can alert your near and dear ones if your meet with an accident.
Studying at Sri Indu College of Engineering and Technology, Manoj had to travel 50 km to reach college from his Secunderabad home. And he would notice many accidents on the ORR.
“One day my friend Abhishek met with an accident and I realised we had to do something about it. So I started working on this project,” says Manoj. And once Abhishek recovered, he too came on board.
The plug-in-portability device for vehicles can detect a crash and automatically sends alerts to previously installed emergency numbers.
Even during health emergencies, if the driver becomes incapacitated, with the push of a button an alert can be sent. They will also be implementing a roadside assistance service in case of a breakdown. “We wanted a better solution for the day-to-day problems we witness,” says Abhishek.
The duo was also part of the JNTU Excite programme, where students got together to work on their ideas, and more than 70 projects emerged from there. “We stood first in that programme and received a funding of Rs 50,000. When we heard about the gadget expo, we registered for the awards section and that’s how we got a stall. We had to pay just Rs 5,000,” says Manoj.
Since the expo, his phone hasn’t stopped ringing. “There are investors who want to meet us while many others have called to appreciate our work. And our college chairman, who has always been helpful when it comes to attendance issues, liked our idea so much that even he offered to fund it,” adds Manoj.
