KCR responsible for farmers’ suicides in Telangana, says Congress
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress MLCs have held Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao directly responsible for the suicide of more than 1,500 farmers during his 16-month rule in the state. After Congress MLCs held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss their strategy for the forthcoming monsoon session of Telangana Legislative Council, Leader of Opposition Shabbir Ali and MLCs Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Makam Ranga Reddy, MS Prabhakar and Akula Lalitha told the media that the Chief Minister woke up from slumber over farmer suicides after a slumber of 16 months. They however thanked the CM for accepting the Congress demand for increasing the compensation amount for bereaved families to Rs 6 lakh.
The MLCs demanded that the enhanced compensation be paid to families of all the farmers who committed suicide from the time the TRS government took over. They ridiculed TRS leaders blaming the Congress for the farmer suicides. “You are in power for the last 16 months and did nothing for farmers. The Rs 1 lakh crop loans were not waived to help the anguished farmers. Affected mandals were not declared ‘drought-hit’, no report on damage due to unseasonal rains was prepared and no help sought from the Centre,” they said.

Errabelli gives list of farmers to KCR:
TD Legislature Party leader Erraballi Dayakar Rao on Tuesday sent a list of 1,325 farmers who committed suicides in TS after the TRS government was sworn in on June 2, 2014 to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, along with an open letter, demanding concrete steps be taken to prevent such “large-scale suicides” in the state. Mr Dayakar Rao said that during the 475 days of TRS rule, farmers have been financially ruined due to drought and accumulation of debts.
