Left parties to stick to 2010 seat-sharing formula

The LDF partners would go by the seat sharing formula of 2010 polls
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With Election Commission announcing that local bodies polls process would be completed before November 15, Left parties have decided to finalise seat sharing among allies at the earliest.
The LDF partners would go by the seat sharing formula of 2010 polls. The seat sharing arrangement at the local level will be discussed and finalised at the district and assembly segment level with the approval of state leadership.
“We are going by the 2010 formula but there would be some changes especially in Kollam, Thiruvnanthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts because of the exit of RSP from the LDF. Moreover, new formula will have to be worked out for the newly created 28 municipalities and Kannur corporation,” he said.
The two day CPI state council meeting is taking place at M N Samarakam from Friday which will discuss issues related to local bodies poll in detail.
Meanwhile CPI state secretary ruled out the possibility of level understanding with parties which are part of ruling UDF. “We are for understanding with non-UDF and non BJP parties in the state. There are many parties which are not part of LDF but have been cooperating with us. We will surely have electoral understanding with such outfits,” he added.
Besides focussing on local issues, the LDF also plans to campaign on national issues like price rise, failure of the BJP led government at the Centre to bring in big projects to the state, discrimination in granting smart city and AIIMS type institutions and its indifferent attitude towards many other demands.
The opposition plans to target the ruling UDF on corruption in Consumerfed, Cashew Development Corporation and over all failure in various sectors.
