Sarah’s enjoying her moment in the sun
After several false starts, the pretty Sarah Jane Dias seems to have found her niche with films
Model-turned-actress Sara Jane Dias seems to have finally found her métier. She is just back from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), where she was flooded with praise for her part in Pan Nalin’s Angry Indian Goddesses. The film was declared the first runner-up in the People’s Choice Awards segment at TIFF.
“I’m so overwhelmed with, and grateful for, our success. This film changed my life and I feel blessed to be appreciated on a global platform. It was amazing. The people of Toronto were so warm and welcoming. We were recognised on the streets and received the loveliest compliments,” she says.
About finally finding her bearings, Sarah says, “It definitely is a wonderful moment in my life and a very happy-busy one at that. It’s truly satisfying to see hard work pay off and see dreams come true.”
She is all praise for her director Pan Nalin. “He’s a wonderful human being. Calm and so knowledgeable… he’s a nurturing director and encourages actors to think on their feet,” she says.
But Sarah’s moment of triumph doesn’t end there. Her movie Zubaan (produced by Guneet Monga and directed by Mozez Singh) has been selected as India’s official entry to the Busan Film Festival.
“Zubaan has been selected as the opening film at the Busan International Film Festival 2015. It is a huge honour and the first time an Indian movie will be opening the festival. It stars Vicky Kaushal (of Masaan) and me in the lead. It’s a beautiful film about a boy finding himself again through music,” Sarah shares.
Up next for the actress is Gurinder Chadha’s Viceroy House. Even as she shoots for this film, Sarah is also working on honing her musical talent. “I’m working on more music singles and teaching the occasional yoga class,” she says, then adds, “I am truly blessed. And I am so incredibly grateful to the Mother Goddess and the Universe!”
