SC rejects BCCI’s plea to review verdict on N Srinivasan’s conflict of interest

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur informed TNCA president can cast his vote during elections

Mumbai: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected former BCCI president and ICC chairman N Srinivasan’s plea seeking clarification if he could attend the Board’s governing body meeting as president of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA).

The news comes just after the BCCI called a Special General Meeting (SGM) on October 4 to elect its new President with Nagpur lawyer Shashank Manohar emerging as a "consensus" candidate, after the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur informed that Srinivasan can cast his vote in the elections but cannot attend the meeting.

On September 12, the BCCI urged the apex court to clarify if Srinivasan can attend meetings as TNCA president. The apex cricketing body sought the clarification as court by its January 22, 2015, order had said that Srinivasan cannot contest elections for BCCI presidency as long as he is involved in "conflict of interest" as an owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

On August 28, the BCCI Working Committee meeting was adjourned in Kolkata after it was decided to seek the apex court's opinion whether Srinivasan could attend the meeting as TNCA representative.
