AP government departments now fight for land in the AP capital area
Hyderabad: AP government departments now fight for land in the AP capital area apart from the office space to be allotted to them in capital towers earmarked for them. Apart from iconic towers, Amaravati will get towers for each set of departments as also directorates and commissionarates. Security tower, revenue tower, welfare tower and kendriya tower are some of them.
Security tower will host all law-enforcement agencies like police, fire, prisons, legal metrology.
Revenue towers to accommodate all revenue earning departments like revenue, excise, commercial tax and municipality.
Sankshema towers to have all welfare departments.
Police department has already sought denotification of reserve forest land and its allocation to the department in order to set up the police academy and other police infrastructure.
The AP Police department sought 3,800 acres of land to build necessary infrastructure to shift the headquarters from Hyderabad to newly created capital region near Vijayawada.
Jails department has sought 20,000 sft in security tower and is seeking 150 acres of land. Jails IG Mr B. Sunil Kumar said, “We have asked for 150 acres of land in a 270 square kilometre radius of seed capital, preferably near Mangalagiri, for setting up a central prison. The government earlier allotted 10 hectares for district jail. But the capital needs a central prison with high security arrangements.” Several other departments like fire and excise have also sought land to set up their academies.
