Vigilance raid on Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation

The imminent CBI probe also includes the transaction between the Cashew Corporation and the controversial company
KOLLAM: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted an inspection at the Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation office for the second time on Tuesday after the High Court ordered a CBI probe into the corruption allegations against the top management.
The Vigilance team had conducted a probe on Saturday into the details of the raw cashew procurement using the Rs. 30 crore sanctioned by the government recently.
The tainted former chairman R. Chandrasekharan had staged a one-day hunger strike in front of the secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram a few weeks back demanding the allocation of the money.
The anti-corruption crusader Kadakampally Manoj had filed a petition on September 9 demanding an investigation into the use of the money.
The Vigilance team under circle inspector M.M. Jose inspected the files and collected details regarding the transaction with JMJ traders, the sole bidder.
Mr Manoj had said in his complaint that the corporation procured low quality cashew from JMJ traders for Rs. 24.4 crore.
The imminent CBI probe also includes the transaction between the Cashew Corporation and the controversial company, from where about 90 percent of raw cashew was procured in the last ten years.
