Of lights and green spaces
For M. Jeevan Reddy, who has lived in a rented place all his life despite having his own flat, happiness knew no bounds when he walked into his bungalow in Madhapur, a year-and-a-half ago. The Vice President, global sales, of a pharmaceutical company stays in a 7,500 sft bungalow with wife Swathi, parents Venkatram and Nirmala, and sons, Ishaan and Abhiram.
And Jeevan had mainly two requirements. “In the little space I had available for plants, I wanted a lot of greenery. Also, I wanted natural light to enter the house at all times,” he says. And that explains, the presence of a tree inside the house that has a skylight over it.

Architects and interior designers C.S.R. Vasu and Vishwa Shilpi, say, “We created double height spaces in the core area to allow visual connectivity and improve the lighting and ventilation.”
Talking about the general concept, the duo say, “Their house, standing at four levels was entirely designed in a minimalistic character. Minimalistic visual art formed the base principle right from the exterior to the nook and corner of all the interiors.”
And Jeevan had his own reason for minimalistic interiors. “I have two children and my younger one has just started walking. So, naturally they play in the house and if there are many artefacts, they would throw them around,” he says, adding with a smile, “My younger son took his first steps in this home.”
