Teachers’ posts filled, Telangana government tells Hyderabad High Court

According to the counter-affidavit, the government, after noticing the discrepancies in students and teachers ratio, has taken steps for the rationalisation of teachers and students and accommodated the teachers in schools where the teachers' ratio was less than the students. The government told the court that appointment of Vidya volunteers was completed on Sept. 21, 2015.

It was submitted that during counselling for transfers of teachers, the government had noticed that most of the teachers preferred to work in urban areas and villages where better facilities are available.

The government said that to overcome the problem, the government had issued proceedings on July 13, 2015 that the junior most teacher of the school has to work in that particular school till an alternative arrangement was made in case of he or she opting for transfer.

As far as the seven schools in Mahabubnagar district from which the students wrote letters to the High Court, the government has sanctioned 41 teachers including 11 Vidya volunteers, the affidavit revealed. The government urged the court to dismiss the petition as it was committed to provide quality education for students of the state.
