Brain-mapping on Sameer Gaikwad: Court reserves order

The SIT wanted to subject him to brain-mapping to extract information from him

Belagavi: The Principal Sessions Court of Kolhapur has reserved its verdict on granting permission for brain-mapping test on Sanathan Sanstha member Sameer Gaikwad, the main accused in the murder of thinker Govind Pansare, for October 6.

The government counsel who argued against Gaikwad pleaded before the court that the accused has confessed to killing Pansare twice while talking to someone over phone, but is refusing to provide any information to the SIT.

The SIT wanted to subject him to brain-mapping to extract information from him, the counsel said. Gaikwad’s lawyers raised objection and questioned as to what the police found during the 12-day interrogation of Gaikwad and demanded details of the investigation.

They alleged that the police officials were providing false information to the court. The permission for brain -mapping on Gaikwad will violate his fundamental rights, the lawyers said.
