Starry, starry MITES!
More and more celebrity kids are getting into modelling and are considered fashion icons
Brosnan, Penn, Baldwin, Jagger and Beckham. These aren’t just names of some of the most iconic and famous men of the century, but of their daughters and sons who have made it big and will possibly make it even bigger in the fashion industry in the days to come. It’s 2015 and Dylan Brosnan has more Google searches to his name than father Pierce Brosnan, Dylan Penn is a bigger draw than her controversial father Sean and Brooklyn is a tougher guy to get a hold of than his soccer champion dad David Beckham. That is because these teenagers have taken the world of fashion modelling by storm and are the generation to look out for when it comes to being the faces of big brands.
A few months ago when 14-year-old Kaia Gerber was splashed across the covers of a popular fashion magazine, the world was surprised at how similar she looked to her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford — considered to be one of the most beautiful woman in the world. This aspect of similarity between the children and their parents and the familiarity it breeds makes celeb kids a natural choice for brand campaigns. Only now, the kids are more interested in fashion than in the entertainment industry. Born with natural good looks, kids like Georgia Mary Jagger (Mick Jagger’s daughter), Alexandra Richards (Keith Richards’ daughter), Kendall Jenner (Caitlyn and Kris Jenner’s daughter) and Ireland Baldwin (Kim Bassinger and Alec Baldwin’s daughter) have been the runway scorchers and billboard faces of the past year.
In India, in spite of the overwhelming number of celebrity kids in the film industry, the fashion industry seems devoid of the natural law of primogeniture. One who is looking to make it big in the world of fashion as a model is Aviva Bidapa, who happens to be fashion guru Prasad Bidapa’s daughter. While Aviva is in Mumbai to pursue her dreams, Prasad in Bengaluru, says, “Youngsters do not have it easy at all. A parents’ name is only seen in the case of people like Jacky Bhagnani and Tiger Shroff who the distributors think already have some brand value because they are the child of someone famous. But, if you notice, nobody will take Nishka Lulla seriously until she proves her mettle in fashion, like her mother Neeta Lulla. So the world of fashion is largely unforgiving — even to star kids.”
