Salem: The main absconding accused in the Dalit youth, Gokulraj's murder case and Dheeran Chinnamalai Peravai founder Yuvaraj, will surrender soon if the CB-CID conduct a fair probe into the case, his wife said on Tuesday. "If the CB-CID police conduct a proper investigation into the case, my husband will surrender soon," Suvitha told the media on Tuesday.
The murder of Gokulraj, an engineering graduate who was found dead on a railway track at Pallipalayam near Tiruchengode has taken several intriguing turns, leading to the suicidal death of the investigating officer and the Tiruchengode DSP, R.Vishnupriya.
With the main accused Yuvaraj absconding, the police had several youth unrelated to the case, alleged Dalit activists. The young police officer Vishnupriya also allegedly faced pressure and harrassment from her senior police officers in dealing with the Dalit youth murder case, alleged her close friend and Keezhakarai DSP, Maheswari.
Meanwhile, the three accused, Ranjith, Selvaraj and Chandrasekar arrested in connection with the murder of Dalit youth. Gokul Raj, were released on bail after a 96-day stay in the Attur prison on Tuesday. "We were arrested because the CCTV camera at the temple showed us offering prayers at the temple," they said. The Dalit youth Gokul Raj was last seen along with his girl friend at the temple.
Suvitha, the wife of the main accused who had come to Attur to receive the released prisoners, took them to the Mariamman temple at Kokkaraianpettai in Pallipalayam for special prayers.
"My husband has not applied for advance bail. He is willing to surrender if the police probe is fair," Suvitha told the media. She also said that her husband was not roaming around with deadly weapons as reported in the section of the media. "Why should an innocent person roam around with deadly weapons?" she asked.
