Mahadevan Thampi to crank camera for Padmakumar’s film
It seems to be a season of transformation for the still photographers in the Malayalam film industry to the role of cinematographers. In the last two years lens-men Paul Bathery and Aghosh Vyshanavam have debuted as cinematographers with Ente Satyanweshana Pareekshakal and Thilothama respectively.
The new buzz is that after Paul and Aghosh, Mahadevan Thampi is all set to crank camera for a feature film. According to the sources, it is through M. Padmakumar’s yet to be titled film that Mahadevan Thampi will be starting his new career. The film based on the script written by the actor turned writer Anoop Menon, will start rolling from November.
Mahadevan Thampi, who is active in the industry for the past eight years, has clicked the ‘continuity stills’ of noted movies including Ivar Vivahitharayal, Janakan, Happy Husbands, Four friends, Pokkiri Raja, Three Kings and Payyans.
Amid these films, Kamal Hassan had also roped in Thampi as the still man of his magnum opus Viswaroopam. Though it is for the first time that he is cranking the camera for a feature film, he has operated camera for several short films and commercials.
Apart from that he has also directed certain funny songs in Three Kings, Janapriyan, Nadodi Mannan and Ivar Vivahitharayal.
