Andhra Pradesh holding back funds of Telangana

AP officials said after deducting this Rs 104.96 crore, TS sill has to pay Rs 862.6 crore to AP

Hyderabad: The AP government has not yet released about Rs 100 crore sanctioned by the Centre under reimbursement of tax arrears, loan for Externally Aided Projects (EAP) and Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS), to the TS government. The Centre had deposited these funds in AP’s account, before separate accounts were opened by governments of the two states. TS’ share is Rs 54 crore of tax arrears, Rs 34.05 crore as loan for EAP and Rs 16.96 crore for CSS schemes. AP officials said after deducting this Rs 104.96 crore, TS sill has to pay Rs 862.6 crore to AP.

AP officials said that in spite of paying arrears, the TS government has frozen about Rs 2,000 crore of some educational institutions, though these funds belong to both governments.

They said that TS has to pay Rs 967.56 crore to AP towards Central loan (Rs 546.63 crore), interest on loans (Rs 410.86 crore) and for programme Anantha (Rs 10.07 crore). The AP officials argue that since TS is not paying its share of Central loans and interest, why should they pay to TS. However, TS argues that the loans taken by united AP was spent on projects in Seemandhra region and not in Telangana region.
