Minor girl alleges kidnap, rape

We have registered the case under Pocso, says police officer

Bengaluru: A case of kidnapping and raping a minor has been registered against a 21-year-old man at the Yelahanka police station after the parents of a 15-year-old girl lodged a complaint with the police that she has gone missing since October 10 from Jakkur.

The police traced the girl to Chikkaballapur and found that the accused, Muniraju, had taken her to his house on the pretext of marrying her. On October 10, the girl’s parents registered a missing complaint with the Yelahanka police. When the police began their investigations, it came to light that the girl and Muniraju knew each other. They were also from the same area and belonged to the same caste. The girl’s parents work as labourers, while Muniraju is a goods carrier driver. The girl, who hails from Raichur, was staying at a shanty near Jakkur Lake with her parents.

“We have registered the case under Pocso and have subjected her to medical tests,” a police officer said.
