Despite KPCC diktat, ‘A’ & ‘I’ groups at war in Muthukulam
ALAPPUZHA: Despite the ultimatum issued by the KPCC leadership, there is no end to the tug of war between A and I groups in the Congress in Muthukulam grama panchayath.
It has been confirmed that at least 10 wards of the panchayath will witness a fight between I and A groups.
The fight became imminent after ten A group candidates stood firm on their nominations against official candidates breaching KPCC’s diktat. Thus, out of 15 wards, 10 will see rebels fight in the upcoming election.
A group also went further by offering support to independent candidates in the rest of the wards.
Apart from this, in the 15th ward, a third Congress representative emerged as a candidate. The situation in two block divisions and district division in the panchayath is no different.
On Monday, District Congress Committee (DCC) suspended six Congress leaders for rebel activities in the district. The leaders in Muthukulam panchayth who caused great shame to the party got the axe.
However, the outgoing Kayamkulam Municipal chairperson Rajasree Komalath quit the Congress party on Tuesday in disgust after being denied a ticket in the election.
Ms Komalathu said that she would contest from ward number 25 of the municipality with the support of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
According to local Congress leaders, she was denied a seat because she is under suspension by the party over allegations that she had issued a Beer and Wine shop licence to a hotel.
