Need income-generating cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai: Naidu to PM

Naidu hoped that KCR would co-operate to solve outstanding issues between the states

Uddandarayuni Palem (Thulluru): Citing that the neighbouring states have their own revenue generating cities, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababau Naidu, on Thursday, appealed for central government’s help in developing an income generating capital for his state. Speaking at the Amaravati fete, Naidu made an impassioned appeal saying, “The neighbouring states have their own income generating cities- Telangana has Hyderabad, Karnakata has Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu has Chennai. But we do not have any such city. We request you with folded hands. We expect your support.”

Though he thanked the Prime Minister for the special package that was offered to the sate, Naidu said that the state lacked resources and that it was essential to build a world-class income-generating city.

Adding that some problems had come up during the bifurcation of the state Naidu hoped that if the two states work together much of those problems could be solved. He also hoped that the Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao would co-operate with him to solve these issues.

The issue of state bifurcation had triggered a political blame-game and trade of allegations between the two states.

The TDP leader further went on to thank the Prime Minster for his gesture of bringing the soil from Parliament, and water from the sacred Yamuna. He also said that he was grateful to the Centre for the Rs 1,500 crore package that was allotted to the state, and specifically thanked the farmers for voluntarily contributing their land for building the new capital. The Chief Minister also praised the governments of Singapore and Japan for the support hey have offered and added, “Singapore government for readied master plan for the city in 30 days.”

Speaking further about the new capital, Naidu said that the new capital city is will constitute 9 exclusive sectors within it, such as the “administrative, justice, sports, entertainment, electronic among others.” He added that the best companies in India and world apart from local companies were requested to extend help.

Speaking about the preparations that went in for the foundation fete, he said that “Soil and water was brought from across the country for special functions, from the villages of Gandhiji, Prakasam Panthulu, Pottisriramulu, PV Narasimham, APJ Abdul Kalam, NT Rama Rao. Water was brought from 33 rivers including Ganga, Yamuna, Brahamaputra, Kaveri, Godavari and Krishna and seven countries. Soil was brought from various holy places across the country.”

“By 2020 AP will become one of the top three states in India, by 2029 top in India and by 2050 worlds best investment zone", said Mr Naidu reminding his Vision 2020 programme.
