Films on children vogue in K’town
Makers of short film Thanga Magal are planning to make it into a full-fledged feature film
After Manikandan’s children film Kakka Muttai which won critical acclaim at national and international levels besides bagging several awards, the audiences’ attention have turned to similar genres. Cashing in on the trend, producer Dhanapalan who made films like Gnanaparavai and Manikuyil returns after a long gap with a short film Thanga Magal. Directed by Rooban, a former assistant to veteran SA Chandrasekhar, it has already garnered attention when screened at international film festivals. “The movie has a huge message but Rooban has not made it preachy. It had a great impact on me when I watched it and I am sure it would have a similar effect on the audiences as well. Hence, I am planning to make it into a full-length feature film soon,” says the producer.
