He has been charged for domestic violence following a complaint from estranged wife
Mumbai: Filmmaker Rajesh Mapuskar, known for his work on films like the ‘Munna Bhai’ series, ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’, was arrested on Tuesday night on charges of domestic violence. The director was taken into police custody, following a complaint from his wife, Nisha who has accused him of forgery under Indian Penal Code Act 465, 468 and 471 and for domestic violence under IPC Act 498 A.
According to reports on Thursday, the director had been produced before the court and has been remanded into judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Nisha who lives with her two sons in a plush apartment in Mumbai’s suburbs has been left in a state of despair. She claims that she has ‘no money for maintenance’ and that her husband has not paid up society bills for several months that could total up to a hefty sum.
Nisha also revealed that her husband forged her signatures and forcibly got her admitted into a mental ward back in 2010, without informing her family members. At the time, her doctor even broke the doctor-patient confidentiality agreement and spoke about her condition to the media. Later however, the director dismissed those reports.
The estranged couple have filed the papers for an annulment of their 17-year marriage. Nisha insists that she will not only fight for the divorce and alimony, but also for the custody of her two kids. According to the report, Rajesh has tried to take custody of the two teenagers before, but could not do so, because the kids were aware of his extra marital affair and refused to live with him.
