Advaith, Jayasurya’s son, has handled the editing of a promo video of his dad’s latest movie Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam

The first video song of Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Ente Janalarikil, has been given a new visual makeover at the hands of young prodigy Advaith, the son of actor Jayasurya. Crooned by Jayachandran, the new version of the video was edited by the nine-year-old using the visuals from the song and the making videos.
“After the song was out, Adi asked me very casually if he could edit the video in a different way. I told him to do what he liked but also warned him that we can’t put it up without consulting Ranjith.”
“I was just encouraging his ideas. But when he was done with the edit, I was pleasantly surprised that a nine-year-old could do something this good. Using the software Final Cut Pro (FCP), he created this completely different visual by editing together some scenes from the song itself, some of the making video shots and some shots of Jayachandran rendering the song. When Ranjith saw the video, he insisted that we should use it as a promotional video. He too was impressed. That’s how this got launched,” says Jayasurya.
After watching the video, director Ranjith Shankar put up a post on Facebook saying, “Adi sent me this video the other day... My first reaction was shock and disbelief that he edited this. Then I was emotional thinking a little boy took the pain from his playtime to do this due to his unconditional love for his dad and the movie... Did not want to tamper that love with smoke, grade or any other technology.”
Advaith has previously handled direction, cinematography and editing for some short films as well. Jayasurya adds, “He has always been interested in the technical side and calls up Jomon and Don Max whenever he has some doubt regarding some technical detail. The reason why Adi is getting such opportunities and attention is because he is an actor’s son. But there are a lot of talented young kids out there; some even younger and more talented than my son. It’s amazing what kids can do if you don’t try to force your own views and dreams on them and let them grow up doing what they love. That’s all I’m trying to do.”
Advaith had made his acting debut playing Jayasurya’s childhood in Rejishh Midhila’s Lal Bahadur Shastri and will now be seen playing Jayasurya’s childhood again in Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam. But the young star is already calling shots on the kind of roles he wants, says his father. “He just announced to me the other day that he won’t act my childhood ever again. He is apparently fed up doing the same role and wants to do variety characters and act the childhood of other actors like Dulquer Salmaan,” Jayasurya chuckles.
