Chandrababu Naidu’s aide wins project

The decision was taken by a high-powered committee headed by chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao

Hyderabad: Rithwik Projects Company, owned by AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s close aide and Telugu Desam MP C.M. Ramesh, has bagged the Rs 468.53 crore Kuppam drinking water supply project.

The decision was taken by a high-powered committee headed by chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao.

Irrigation officials said that the government has received one application from Rithwik Projects. The AP government has decided to extend the second phase of the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi canal from Punganur to Kuppam, totalling about 143 km, at a cost of Rs 468.53 crore.

The government aims to supply drinking water to Mr Naidu’s Assembly constituency Kuppam and to the Palamaneru Assembly constituency, represented by YSR Congress’ N. Amaranath Reddy.

The government had relaxed the rules (GO RT No 413) to take up the project under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction turnkey system.

The project involves construction of “cross drainage and cross ma-sonry works and three lift irrigation systems to supply water to 6,300 acres.

Drinking water will be supplied to eight mandals of Kuppam and Palamaneru constituencies from the project. Rithwik Projects has been already awarded some packages in first and second phases of HNSS.
