Three trains catch fire at Puri station
PURI: At least five coaches of 12816 Puri-New Delhi Nandankanan Express, 17480 Tirupati-Puri Express and 12838 Puri-Howrah Express on Thursday evening cau-ght fire here at Puri railway station.
According to reports, at around 5.30 pm the fire started with Nandankanan Express and later spread to Tirupati-Puri Express and then to Puri Express which were standing at distance of 100 metres.
No passengers were onboard at the time of the accident. While the exact reason for the mishap is unknown, it is suspected to be a handiwork of mischievous elements. “One person with a matchbox has been detained for allegedly causing the fire. Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel are questioning him,” an official of the East Coast Railway said.
