A defence minister’s visit to college in 15 years

Parrikar commenced the visit by paying homage to Martyrs at the historic War Memorial in the army centre
Ooty: It was Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s day out at the Army centre at Wellington near here on Friday as the army environs was surcharged with his visit. A defence minister was visiting the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) at Wellington after 15 years.
A release said DSSC was a premier tri-services training institution providing command and staff training to officers of army, navy, air force, civil services and those of Commonwealth and friendly foreign countries. Nestling in the sylvan environs in Wellington cantonment area, DSSC is a microcosm of military learning and professional
wisdom.
Parrikar commenced the visit by paying homage to Martyrs at the historic War Memorial in the army centre.Thereafter, he witnessed the multi-spectral transformation that has taken shape on the pristine campus of DSSC and development of the world class infrastructure. He complimented Lt.Gen.S.K.Gadeock, Commandant. DSSC, for the extraordinary impetus given towards the growth oriented development in all spheres.
In his address to students and faculty of the 71st staff course, Parrikar shared the vision of the government in the dynamic ever changing global environment. He appreciated the role of DSSC in cementing diplomatic ties by interaction with students from friendly foreign countries. Later speaking to mediapersons, Parrikar said the up-gradation of courses in DSSC was the best in keeping with the modern day development.
