NYPD style headquarter for Hyderabad cops
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will lay the foundation stone of the NYPD style Hyderabad police headquarters at Banjara Hills Road No. 12 on Sunday morning. Designed in a futurist architecture style, the buildings will have two main towers. While one tower will have 16 floors, the other will have 24 and both the towers will be connected by a bridge, senior police officials said. The building also will have Integrated Command and Control Centre. Officials said that the linking bridge between the two towers will have museum space and a viewing gallery.
The building will also have an auditorium with seating capacity for 1,000 persons, massive video walls, and landscaping and water fountains around the building. Around one lakh surveillance cameras, which are now being installed in the city with public-private participation and at police headquarters of all the districts, would be synched with the Command and Control Centre .
In July, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had accepted the design of the twin towers having solar roof and to be built with Green Energy concept. After examining different designs presented by 15 companies, the Chief Minister had had accepted one of them.
KCR had earlier said that the police Head Quarters will be inspired from the NYPD’s headquarters, 1 Police Plaza situated at Manhattan. The Telangana government had allotted the 7.5 acre government land in Banjara Hills for the police department after the state was formed.
