No discussion on CM candidate yet: Pinarayi Vijayan

He shared his childhood memories with the students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said it was too early to discuss as to who will the chief minister after the Assembly elections 2016.

At an interaction programme with the students of Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School here, the CPM leader said that even discussions on the candidates had not been taken yet.

“The normal party procedure is to first finalise the candidates for the elections. The decision on the chief minister will be taken only after party secures majority in the elections,” Vijayan said.

He shared his childhood memories with the students. “Once while standing with my mother at home when suddenly policemen along with a gang of anti socials barged into our house. They took away the belongings and threw some of the goods outside. A gold ring was also found to be missing. My brother also suffered torture in custody for being a communist sympathisers,” he recalled.

Pinarayi said such real life incidents and the stories told by his mother had influenced him to become a communist. The CPM leader also shared the horror during Emergency period.

“I was brutally tortured by police in the lock up. With every hit on the head I could see lightening flashing in front of my eyes. Later when I confronted the police officer who led the torture, he tried to come up with excuses. But I told him that his act was inhuman,” the CPM politburo leader said.
