Karnataka Legislative Council polls: Siddaramaiah’s son rising in Mysuru

Bengaluru: Will the ‘sonrise’ happen in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s family too? It could only if the CM gives in to pressure from Congress MLAs in Mysuru and Chamarajnagar who are reportedly lobbying to secure a MLC ticket for Rakesh Siddaramaiah.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a Congress leader said, “Rakesh’s name was proposed when legislators of Mysuru met the CM at the wedding of MLA D. Sudhakar’s daughter in Chitradurga on Monday.”

Mr Siddaramaiah has not given in yet. But the pressure to field his son from Mysuru is growing. Another leader in the CM's camp felt Mr Siddaramaiah may not press for his son's candidature as incumbent MLC Dharmasena is a Dalit. “Mr Siddaramaiah may be trying to ensure his son remains a contender for an Assembly seat in Mysuru in 2018,” the source said.

Meanwhile the CM and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar sat down to finalise probables for the MLC seats before they leave for Delhi on Tuesday. The candidates’ list might be released in a day or two.
