CM Siddaramaiah to make Congress rebels ‘stick’ to line

‘The onus is on me to sort out all problems and convince them to withdraw their nominations’
Bengaluru: Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Sunday asserted that he would soon meet all rebel candidates of the party who have filed their nominations for the Legislative Council polls and address their grievances personally to persuade them to withdraw their nominations.
Speaking to reporters after garlanding the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar at Vidhana Soudha, he said, “It is quite natural for a few leaders to rebel under these circumstances. Any party for that matter can field only one candidate for a constituency, however, there will be several aspirants for the same seat. Therefore, the onus is on me to sort out these problems and convince the rebels to withdraw their nominations.”
He claimed the party will win all 21 seats where it has fielded candidates. Rebutting leader of Opposition in the Assembly Jagadish Shettar's remarks on reservation matrix, the CM termed the former a big liar.
“It is a known fact that Mr Shettar is a born liar. Whenever he makes statements, he ensures that they are laced with a lie, therefore, one need not take his allegations seriously,” he said.
According to him, the reservation matrix for ZP and TP polls were fixed by the election commission and the state government does not have any role in it.
“Mr Shettar's statement that the government had hurriedly fixed the reservation matrix is another white lie uttered by our leader of Opposition,” he said.
