Quite a few South Indian actors, especially from Tollywood, feature on this year’s Forbes 100 Celebrities of India List. While Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan occupy the top three positions, Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun can be found in the top 50.
Mahesh and Arjun are ranked 36 and 42 respectively. While Mahesh Babu’s earnings are Rs 51.5 crore, his fame position is 78.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s earnings are Rs 37.5 crore and his fame position stands at 67.
Interestingly, thanks to Baahubali, Prabhas and Rajamouli have made it to the list. And director S.S. Rajamouli is at number 72 with earnings of Rs 26 crore while Prabhas is at 77 with Rs 24 crore.
The magazine says that the rankings are based on estimates of the entertainment-related earnings of celebrities and their fame. They added that they considered the time period between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015, for the ratings.
Prabhas and Rajamouli’s only film during this period was Baahubali and one can assume that their figures could be the remuneration for the film.
Some of the other Tollywood celebrities in the top 100 are Puri Jagannadh, Ravi Teja, Kajal Aggarwal and Shruti Hassan.
The other popular South stars, mostly from the Tamil industry, who are in the top 100 are Suriya, Arya, Prabhu Deva, Dhanush, Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, Rajnikanth and N. Santhanam, top 100 list. This ranking is awarded based on the annual earnings of the celebrities.
