MLC polls: Congress terms TRS ‘plans’ undemocratic

They would go to the people to expose the machinations of the ruling party.
Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly using undemocratic means to wipe out the Opposition in Telangana, senior Congress leaders K. Jana Reddy, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and former minister J. Geeta Reddy said they would go to the people to expose the machinations of the ruling party.
Dr Geetha Reddy, Zaheerabad MLA, warned TRS cadres and leaders that the party would file cases if they continue to harass her and prevent her from holding meetings in her constituency. She narrated an incident that allegedly occurred on December 7 when TRS workers disrupted an official meeting held in Zaheerabad during which she was injured her in the leg.
“My leg was operated upon and I was just recovering. It has been a practice of local TRS workers to lead delegations whenever I visit my constituency and disturb my meetings even in the presence of district minister T. Harish Rao. In a recent incident, a few workers stamped on my my injured leg with shoes,” Dr Geeta Reddy said. Mr Jana Reddy, Leader of Opposition, said the TRS government was functioning in a completely unethical and undemocratic manner. “They are luring or intimidating each and every elected representative to win elections or increase their tally. The CM simply wants to wipe out the Opposition in an undemocratic way.”
He wondered how the TRS which has no strength in local bodies was trying to grab every MLC seat it is contesting. Citing an example, he said the TRS has just got four votes among 1,200 local body members in Khammam but was contesting the seat to win it by any means. “We have approached the President, the Governor, the Election Commission and other authorities on the open violation by the TRS but got no positive response. Now we will directly go to the people and expose the undemocratic and dictatorial rule of Mr Rao,” Mr Jana Reddy said.
