AICC praise for Danam Nagender’s loyalty; prospects reviewed
Hyderabad: The much awaited meeting of AICC leaders with key Telangana state Congress leaders in Delhi remained confined to a review of the party’s prospects ahead of elections for six MLC seats and the forthcoming GHMC elections.
Before the scheduled meeting began at the AICC headquarters, the TPCC leaders met Ghulam Nabi Azad, Motilal Vora, Ahmed Patel and Janardhan Dwivedi where the latter gave City Congress president Danam Nagender a pat for ‘rejecting’ the TRS leaders’ offers to switch over to the ruling party and remaining loyal to the Congress.
They also praised him as a towering personality in City Congress affairs and hoped he would lead the party to success in GHMC polls. Later, at the AICC headquarters, party general secretary Digvijay Singh held a prolonged meeting with the leaders and enquired about the party candidates’ prospects in each of district where MLC polls are going on.
TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leaders of Opposition in the Legislature K. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali, and Mr Nagender were asked to attend the meeting.
“Since Congress extending its support to the CPI candidate in Khammam, it would be better to take their help in other districts where Congress is contesting. Digvijay Singh already spoke to CPI and CPM leaders in this regard,” a source told this newspaper.
