ASI Mohan Reddy’s victims’ tent demolished in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Unidentified persons demolished a tent put up by the victims of suspended ASI B. Mohan Reddy for staging protests demanding justice in front of the collectorate, here on Saturday night. Earlier, unknown persons had stolen the flex posters displayed in the tent on December 13 night.
M. Mahender Reddy, president of Victims of ASI Mohan Reddy Association stated that no one would be able to stop the peaceful protests of the victims under the tent by destroying it. He asserted that the act would boost the morale of the protesters. Based on a complaint from the association, Karimnagar II town police registered a case.
It may be recalled that ASI B. Mohan Reddy amassed assets by lending money to farmers, educationists, industrialists, professionals and employees at exorbitant rates of interest. His business came to the fore when a school manager hanged himself to death in Karimnagar on October 29 as he was unable to bear the harassment of the ASI.
Following the incident, many others came forward to reveal the ordeal they underwent after borrowing money from the cop’s firm. They formed an association in November and began protests in the tent to pressure the government to probe the ASI’s illegal acts committed by the ASI.
