A private screening of Prarthane, a three-year-old Kannada film directed by debutant journalist-turned-director Sadashiva Shenoy, was attended by Challenging Star Darshan, Hariprriya, Rachitha Ram, Prema, noted director Rajendra Singh Babu amongst other dignitaries. The film talks about the poor condition and the neglected state in which Kannada medium schools in the state are.
Released in 2012, Prarthane was shot in the backdrop of the then decision by the state government to close down Kannada medium schools where the attendance of wards was below 10 per class. Veteran actor Anant Nag, Prakash Raj and Pavitra Lokesh all portray roles written and directed by Shenoy.
