Acting or direction — Which of the two is more important to you?
Acting is my first priority and direction is more like a hobby and a stress buster.
The best way to tackle stress according to you is?
Be patient.You have no control over things. So I believe in things taking their own time.
What do you when you aren’t shooting?
On the sets in between shots I like to watch some Hollywood films and TV.
How would you describe a day in your life?
Because I have been working on my show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, for so long, I don’t get to spend a normal day ever. Hectic schedules and other work commitments take up most of my time
What’s your favourite pastime?
I don’t really get the time to indulge in a hobby, but I do love playing soccer.
Something fans don’t know about you?
I have an OCD for cleanliness. I am also very organised as a person, something that could irritate others.
A quality you love in your wife, Nisha?
She is full of life and my very own source of entertainment.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is Star Plus’ longest-running show and also your first television show ever. What is it that makes this show special for you? And why do you think the audiences like it so much?
This show will always remain close to my heart as it has given me everything I have wished for. I think the simple no-negative character storyline, that addresses the basic issues of society and gives an honest portrayal of family relationships, is what keeps the audience hooked to the show.
You celebrated your third marriage anniversary recently. Has anything changed from the first time you met Nisha?
We have known each other for eight years now. In our journey together, we have seen ups and downs but we have always stood by each other and we have matured with time. She complains that I should spend more time with her but then daily soap life is tough.
