Telly actress Madirakshi, who made her debut in the Telugu film Ori Devudoy, is now playing Sita in the mythological show, Siya Ke Ram. In a candid chat, she tells us about her journey as an actor, forthcoming movies and gives us a glimpse of a day in her life. Excepts from the interview:
From an interior designer to an actor, it’s been quite a transition. What has the journey been like?
I had no aspirations of becoming an actor because I was happily pursuing my interior designing course back in Indore. Later I bagged a job in Delhi, and since then, I just went with the flow. Acting happened by chance — and before I knew it I was shooting for Ori Devudoy. And now, here I am, a part of the small screen with an ambitious project like this one.
Have movies taken a backseat now that you’re doing Siya Ke Ram and also because the going seems good for you?
That has not really been put on hold, but I believe in doing complete justice to every project I take up. Since Siya Ke Ram is my debut in the Hindi telly industry and my most prestigious project so far, it is my duty to ensure I prioritise it and give it my 100 per cent.
What was your family’s reaction to your entry in the show?
They have loved it. My family back in Indore and Bhopal were most excited when I came on board. It always feels good to receive such amazing feedback for the work you’re putting in.
What is your outlook towards life?
This may sound like a cliché but I believe in living life to the fullest. I live in the moment and I think we should make the most of it. I am an extremely positive person and I think it is one of the main reasons why I am happy.
How would you describe a day in your life when you aren’t shooting?
A day off would mean pampering myself and catching up on all the sleep that I have been missing on while working.
I prefer visiting the salon — I indulge in a good massage and relax through the entire day.
What kind of life partner are you looking for?
Ram and Sita’s intellect matched to an extent and that’s something I’d definitely want. My partner should understand my perspective on things and accept me for the way I am. Ram was the ideal man and I want my man to be perfect for me.
