Congress celebrates KCR’s unkept word

Christian Bhavan only on paper.

Hyderabad: In a novel protest, Telangana Congress leaders on Friday celebrated Christmas at the very site in Mahindra Hills where Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had laid foundation stone for Christian Bhavan a year to the day. The Congress leaders accused Mr Rao of cheating the Christian community. Reminding the Chief Minister’s statement during the stone laying ceremony in 2014 that he would inaugurate the new building and celebrate 2015 Christmas at the same site, they said that Mr Rao had failed to fulfil the promise and work on the Bhavan has not moved an inch forward in the past year.

Congress leaders Shabbir Ali, Danam Nagender, Sarve Satyanarayana, Marri Sasidhar Reddy and others cut a Christmas cake in front of the foundation stone of the non-existent Christian Bhavan. Criticising the government Mr Shabbir Ali said all projects, including the 2BHK houses, whose foundation stones were being laid by panchayat raj minister K.T. Rama Rao and other ministers will meet the same fate. “Except for foundation stones, there will be nothing after the GHMC elections,” he said.

He termed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao a “habitual liar and cheat”, saying, “KCR praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi immediately after the passage of Telangana Bill. Later, he forgot her, and during his last visit to New Delhi, he did not even have the courtesy of wishing her on her birthday. When KCR can forget the creator of Telangana, imagine the fate of its people.”

Mr Nagender appealed to the people not to get misled by TRS propaganda. “Except for making tall claims and fake promises, TRS government was not doing anything,” he said. Mr Shasidhar Reddy said the Congress would enlighten the people of Hyderabad on how they were being cheated by the TRS.
