Santas’ day out in Thrissur
The event by Archdiocese of Thrissur had made Guinness World Record entry.
Thrissur: Tens and hundreds of Santa clauses took part in Buon Natale, the grand Christmas carol procession, organised by the Archdiocese of Thrissur here on Sunday afternoon.
Several children from different Forane Churches of the diocese who were dressed up as angels and more than 20 floats depicting the Vadakkumnathan Temple in Thrissur, the Taj Mahal, St Peter’s Basilica in Vatican and various other cultural and religious themes were also part of the grand gathering of santa clauses in pooram town.
The Natale was first conducted by the archdiocese in 2013. Last year, the event had the participation of 18,112 Santa Clauses and it won the Guinness World Records for having the largest number of people dressed up as Santa Claus.
Santa Clauses on stilts was another attraction of the grand procession on Sunday. The procession was flagged off at 5.30 p.m. by Culture Minister K C Joseph from St Thomas College in Thrissur and the grand Christmas procession passed through the Swaraj Round in the heart of the city accompanied by different sets of bands.
The valedictory function was inaugurated by Co-operation Minister C N Balakrishnan.
