Guru’s grace needed for spiritual ascent, says Sakthi Amma

VELLORE: The head of the ‘Sri Narayani Peedam’ near here, Sri Sakthi Amma emphasised the importance of the “grace of the Guru (teacher)” for people to help attain the ideal of spirituality. And without the latter, possession of wealth, education and valor would not make one’s life complete, he said addressing his 40th Jayanthi celebrations on Saturday.
The celebrations began at 5 am at the Peedam with ’Ganapathy Pooja’, followed by ‘Sri Narayani Ayush Homam and Poorna Ahuthi’ in which lakhs of devotees from all over the country participated.
The Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind, who was the chief guest at the function, lit the traditional lamp and also released a book, a compilation of lectures of Sri Sakthi Amma.
In his key-note address, the Governor said that Sri Sakthi Amma, who born as a son to a mill worker, had changed Ariyur into a land of spirituality with his services to humanity by constructing hospitals and educational institutions for the downtrodden people.
The devotees of Sri Sakthi Amma, Sri Rama Bhaktha Seva Sangam and Sri Narayani Peedam led a procession in which Sri Sakthi Amma’s statue was taken around on a beautifully decorated car. Elephants and horses were part of the procession. The devotees also sang devotional songs and were welcomed with the beating of drums like ‘Tharai’ and ‘Thappatai’.
While devotees also poured milk to the statue of Sri Sakthi Amma, Mr Vijay Sampla, Union minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, who was the guest of honour, lauded Sri Sakthi Amma’s help to the downtrodden and also the Sri Puram golden temple near here.
His Holinesses Sri Muralidhara Swamigal, Kalavai Satchithanandha Swamigal, Thiruvalam Shantha Swamigal, Kovai Neelamalai Siddhar, Delhi Shanthi Bhushan Jain, BJP leader L.Ganesan, BJP state general secretary Mohan Rajulu, vice president Vanathi Srinivasan, K.G.Hospital president Dr Bhakthavatsalam, Anaikattu MLA Kalai Arasu, Sri Narayani Hospital Director Dr Balaji, and Sri Puram Temple Director M.Suresh Babu, were among those who participated in the function.
