"Mufti Sahib will be buried at his ancestral graveyard at Bijbehara today," PDP general secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir said. The mortal remains would be transported to the mazaar in a well-decorated police vehicle.
According to PDP sources, the mortal remains of the Chief Minister will be flown in from Delhi this afternoon and taken to his Gupkar residence for allowing the party workers and general public to pay their last respects.
Sayeed is survived by his wife, three daughters including PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, and a son.
The Home Minister, who met Sayeed's family in AIIMS soon after his death, said "Mufti Sayeed ji had a wonderful understanding of complex issues pertaining to J&K. He wanted to bring permanent peace to the Valley."
