Sarpanch’s house set on fire
Hyderabad: Relatives of a 35-year-old beedi worker, who died following an attack by a woman Sarpanch’s sons at Ibrahimpur village in Siddipet mandal of Medak district, retaliated by attacking the Sarpanch and her sons on Friday and setting her house on fire. The fire spread rapidly and gutted six houses. Police resorted to lathi-charge to bring the situation under control. It was two days ago that sarpanch K Laxmi was injured when she was hit by a bike while crossing the road. Her sons Yellareddy and Nagireddy, summoned the rider Srihari, and thrashed him.
On Thursday evening, Srihari and his friends came to the village and a fight erupted between the groups. He was administered First Aid at a hospital, but died on Friday. It later came to be known that his death was due to rupture of his liver and spleen. Srihari was a native of Jillella village in Sircilla mandal of Karimnagar district. His relatives staged a protest in front of the Sarpanch’s house and another fight started. More than 300 people from surrounding villages attacked the Sarpanch and torched her house. Additional forces were rushed to the spot and police managed to bring the situation under control by evening. Two cops were also injured in the clashes.
