Antony was standing by the road side, when a speeding bike driven by a 19-year-old boy knocked her fatally down near South Moolamkuzhy in Mattancherry.
“The youth who was riding much above the stipulated speed limit, lost control of the vehicle after hitting another bike and rammed into the girl’’, said Baby Vinod K.S., Traffic Assistant Commissioner, West Kochi.
The locals caught the boy, identified as Sharon of Mundamveli, who also suffered severe injuries in the accident and handed him over to the police.
A case has been registered against Sharon for rash driving and negligence leading to a child’s death.
Meanwhile, top police officials observed that the speeding trend on super-bikes was on a steady rise in the city, especially at night.
