Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority on Tuesday to take legal action against United Gulf Construction Company for the slow progress of construction of the Outer Ring Road stretch from Shamirpet to Keesara.

There has been only 0.14 per cent to 0.71 per cent achievement of the total contract value in the past one year.

According to the HMDA officials, UGCC was entrusted with the ORR package from Shamirpet to Keesara. The project developer had bagged the contract for '195 crore in March 2010 and commenced work within two months.

As per the agreement, the ORR stretch should have been completed within 30 months, i.e. by November 25, 2012.

Officials, however, said that the contractor had completed only 47 per cent of the work in 30 months. The reasons for poor performance reportedly were inadequate mobilisation of resources (funds), improper planning and lack of close monitoring by the management. Firm officials also did not attend the review meetings held by the metropolitan commissioner.

The CM also asked for a detailed report on development of plots in the Uppal Bhagat area.
