Bengaluru: What is the average number of files handled by an employee of the Secretariat in Vidhana Soudha or Vikasa Soudha? One file per week!

 

How many Secretariat employees are punctual? On an average, 1622 employees come to office only in the afternoon.

 

These were some of the startling revelations made to the cabinet sub-committee headed by Law  Minister T.B. Jayachandra, which probed why the ambitious Sakala scheme had failed to achieve full success.  New chief secretary Koushik Mukherjee  made a surprise visit to an  office on Monday and  finding it empty, ordered a day’s pay cut for 40 employees.

 

 Jayachandra said that though bio-metric attendance was used in the secretariat, more than 1622 employees signed in after  lunch. The panel found   there were too many programmes meant for utilising funds and decided to do away or merge them.
