Thiruvananthapuram: Rain has caused heartbreaks to young autistic children at the Helping Hands Organization, Karyavattom.

The Thiruvananthapuram chapter of Young Indians (Yi) was planning to organize the second edition of their initiative CitYi Colours, on Thursday, at Helping Hands Organization (H2O), Karyavattom.

As part of the initiative the compound wall of the H2O was to be filled with paintings to support the young creative talents at the organization. However, the damages during the rains to the walls forced the Yi to postpone the program, now being scheduled to be held on December 3.

The initiative was to be carried out in association with the students from the Architecture Department of College of Engineering, Trivandrum.

“We had also roped artists from Toonz Animation and other colleges and schools like NISH and Loyola School, so that we will be able to cover more area,” Sajan S ,executive member of the Yi, told Deccan Chronicle.

The painting was to be based on themes like ‘’we are different,’’ and ‘’every child is special,’’ said Mr. Sajan.

H2O is an NGO working for the creation of a better world for the deprived and the needy, giving special focus on the differently able children.

It works on the simple yet powerful principle that the best way to change the life of a needy child is to get exposure to comprehensive special education and life skill education for rehabilitation.
