Security beefed up for Muharram procession

Hyderabad: Security was beefed up for Moharrum processions on Friday. Police commissioner Anurag Sharma said elaborate security arrangements were in place.

A large number of policemen would be deployed on the main roads of old city to ensure the processions pass peacefully.

Adequate security forces, including paramilitary forces, would be deployed on the ground to ensure public safety during the Bibi Ka Alam procession, which the biggest procession in the city.

Traffic restrictions on Friday

Traffic barred towards Alawa Bibi, diversion at Sunargalli T Junction, towards Dabeerpura Darwaza or Yakutpura nala. Traffic barred towards Shaik Faiz Kaman; diversion at Jabbar Hotel, towards Dabeerpura Darwaza or Chanchalguda.

Traffic from Yakutpura railway station will not be allowed towards Shaik Faiz Kaman; diversion at Bada Bazar T-junction, towards Rein Bazar or Talab Katta. Traffic from Purani Haveli (Durru Shehvar Hospital) will not be allowed towards procession route (Etebar Chowk); diversion at  Purani Haveli X-road, towards Peeligate or SJ rotary.

At Etebar Chowk

When procession reaches Ethebar Chowk, traffic from Mitti Ka Sher barred towards Etebar Chowk; diversion at Gulzar Houz, either towards Madina x-road or Charminar. Traffic from Moghalpura water tank barred towards procession route at Chowk Maidan Khan; diversion at Hafez Danka Mosque, towards Paris Cafe or Bibi Bazar.

At Alijah Kotla

Traffic from Himmatpura x-road barred towards route of the procession at Charminar, diversion at Panchmohalla, towards Moghalpura fire station or Chowmohalla Palace. Traffic from Puranapul narred towards Charminar; diverted at Motigalli, towards Mitti ka Sher or Chowmohalla Palace (Khilwath).

Traffic from Shakkerkote barred towards Gulzar Houz; diversion at Mitti Ka Sher, towards Ghansi Bazar or Chelapura. Traffic from Nayapul barred towards procession route at Charminar; diversion at Madina x-road, towards City College.

At Miralam Mandi Traffic from Chaderghat rotary, Noorkhan Bazaar, Salarjung Museum and Shivaji Bridge barred towards route of the procession (Purani Haveli); diversion at Salarjung rotary, towards Nayapul.

At Alawa Sartouq

Traffic from Chaderghat rotary barred towards procession route (Kali Khabar); diversion at Shanti Lodge, towards Ch-aderghat bridge. Traffic from Gowliguda barred towards Aza Khana Zohra via Salar Jung Bridge; diversion towards Afzalgunj from Gowliguda side of Salar Jung Bridge.

At Secunderabad 4 pm to 8.30 pm

Traffic from Hyderabad via Tank Bund to Karbala Maidan: Diversion at Children's Park towards Kavadiguda, Bible House and RP Road. Traffic from RP Road to Karbala Mai-dan: Diversion at traffic island near Traffic PS Begumpet, Secunderabad (Bible House) via Tank Bund Road.

MG Road between Central Telegraph Island and Ranigunj will be one-way towards Ranigunj side. Traffic will be diverted at Ranigunj junction towards the Ministers Road, depending upon the situation.

All traffic proceeding from the R.P. Road to Karbala Maidan will be diverted at the Traffic Island near Traffic PS Begumpet, Secunderabad (Bible House) via., Tankbund Road and will join the Tankbund Road at DBR Mills "T" Junction.

Mahatma Gandhi Road between the Central Telegraph Island and Ranigunj will be "one way” towards Ranigunj side. Traffic will be diverted at Ranigunj Junction towards the Ministers Road, depending upon the situation.
