Telangana Congress promises social justice
Jaipal Reddy appealed to the leaders of Seemandhra to cooperate with Telangana leaders.
Nirmal (Adilabad): Telangana Congress leaders changed their political tone and tenor, surprising all Congress leaders. For the first time they sang the ‘Samajika Telangana’ (Social Telangana) song and talked of party’s active role in the reconstruction of Telangana state at a ‘Thanks-giving meeting,’ organised in Nirmal on Wednesday to express gratitude to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for granting Telangana state.
Addressing the gathering, Union minister S. Jaipal Reddy appealed to the leaders of Seemandhra to cooperate with Telangana leaders to help pass the Telangana Bill in the state Assembly.
The Congress leaders, including Jaipal Reddy, former PCC president D. Srinivas, ministers K. Jana Reddy, Damodhar Reddy, AICC secretary Ramachandra Kutya of Odisha made it clear that the Congress will do social justice to dalits, adivasis, backward communities and minorities in the separate Telangana state.
All Telangana Congress leaders were critical of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for submitting reports on status of Hyderabad and other iss-ues without the consent of the state Cabinet. They declared that Bandhrachalam will be part of Telangana state.
Meanwhile, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao told party leaders that TRS will not merge with the Congress and will contest independently in the next elections.
The Congress leaders said the real thanksgiving to Sonia Gandhi will be when Telangana people will send 119 Congress MLAs and 17 MPs in the 2014 elections from Telangana state.
The leaders took the oath to make Telangana state a role model for other states in the country. Political analysts say that the Congress party’s changed tone was aimed to counter TRS.
